The new 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan SUV is all set to be launched in India on May as the company has teased the SUV yet again on the official website.
Volkswagen, a popular German car brand is preparing itself for the launch of the all-new Tiguan SUV in the country on May 24, 2017. The company has teased the new SUV on the officially website confirming the set date for the arrival of the new Tiguan in the country. We previously reported that the company has initiated the production of new Volkswagen Tiguan 5-seater SUV at its Aurangabad plant. The SUV has been spied couple of times while doing rounds on Indian roads as well. Recently, brochure was leaked online for the vehicle ahead of its official launch revealing all the necessary details.
As per the leaked details, the company will introduce the new generation Tiguan SUV in two variants – Comfortline and Highline. The Highline variant will be more feature and equipment rich in comparison to that of Comfortline variant. In terms of safety, the SUV will be equipped with 6-airbags, ABS, ESC, ASR, EDL, EDTC, reverse parking camera, self sealing tyres, ISOFIX mounts, tyre pressure monitoring system, rain sensor, park distance control-front and rear, automatic headlamp leveler, rear fog lamps, front fog lamps with cornering lights, front and rear disc brakes and much more.
The equipment list on the Tiguan SUV will comprise of panaromic sunroof, leather upholstery, 3-zone air conditioning with rear controls, leather wrapped steering wheel, auto dimming IRVM, ambient lighting, adjustable lumbar support for driver’s seat, heat insulated windshield, electrically adjustable front seats, 8-inch infotainment system, auto hold, paddle shift, Eco drive function, drive alert system, hill descent control, 8-speakers and much more.
Under the hood, the SUV will be powered by a 2.0 liter diesel engine that can develop 143 PS of max power against the peak torque of 330 Nm and comes mated to a 7 speed automatic gearbox that will transmit power to all the four wheel via 4Motion system. It will also be offered with 4 driving modes – Snow, Terrain, Sports and Individual.
Expected to be priced in the range of INR 20 lakh to INR 25 lakh (ex-showroom), the all new Tiguan SUV will be pitted against the likes of Hyundai Santa Fe, Toyota Forturner, Ford Endeavour and Jeep Compass.
